## SYSLOG Details
- **Message**: Unable to lock PID file:  <variable>filename</variable> because of <variable>error-message</variable>
- **Help**: profilerd could not lock PID file
- **Description**: The profiler service process (profilerd) attempted to lock the file that records its process id (pid), which serves to prevent multiple instances of a process from running simultaneously. It could not update the file and exited after logging this message
- **Type**: SNO: Should Not Occur
- **Severity**: error
- **Cause**: An instance of profilerd may be already running
- **Action**: Try killing the profiler service process (profilerd) that is running and start it again
- **Attributes**: filename

- **Facility**: LOG_DAEMON
