New services application-identification configuration options allow the ICMP type or code, the IP protocol, and the source or destination addresses that are available at Layer 3 or Layer 4 to be mapped to an application. When implementing AppSecure services, such as AppFW, AppTrack, or AppQoS, you can apply Layer 3 or Layer 4 mapping techniques when applicable to bypass Layer 7 sign-ature based mapping and improve the efficiency of the network.
