DSCP marking for VoIP ALGs enables you to prioritize real-time voice and video traffic across congested networks. You can configure a 6-bit DSCP value for each of the SIP, H.323, MGCP, and SCCP ALGs, ensuring that RTP packets are marked with the appropriate class of service bits as they pass through the ALG. When the first RTP packet hits the ALG, the configured DSCP value is applied to the session, and all subsequent packets in that session are marked accordingly. This allows downstream routers to place the marked packets into higher-priority queues for faster forwarding, improving VoIP quality.
