CoS-based forwarding (CBF) is used to steer traffic over different next hops (including over different RSVP-TE LSPs), depending on the forwarding class of the packet. You can apply CBF to all routes or to only a defined set of routes, by applying a CoS next-hop mapping policy within the routing policy.
One common use for CoS-based forwarding and next-hop maps is to enforce different handling for different traffic types, such as voice and video. For example, you can use an LSP-based next hop pointing to the "gold" RSVP-TE LSP for voice and video, and a non-LSP-based next hop for best-effort traffic.
This feature introduces CBF support for non-directly connected next hops, which require recursive resolution.
