Transmission queues

More Information:

Transmission queues

Transmission queues temporarily store packets on an outgoing interface before transmission, enabling you to control how traffic is prioritized and scheduled for delivery. You can assign packets to queues based on forwarding classes, ensuring each queue receives the appropriate share of interface bandwidth. The scheduling mechanism evaluates each queue's priority and bandwidth credit?comparing transmitted data against the allocated rate?to determine which queues are serviced first. Higher-priority queues transmit before lower-priority ones, while leftover bandwidth is distributed among queues with negative credit in proportion to their configured transmit rates. The goal is to ensure that each traffic type receives bandwidth appropriate to its level of service.
