Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) encapsulation

More Information:

Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) encapsulation

Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) encapsulation provides a standard method for transporting multiprotocol datagrams over a point-to-point link. PPP uses the High-Speed Data Link Control (HDLC) protocol for its physical interface and provides a packet-oriented interface for the network-layer protocols.

PPP is supported only for IPv4 networks. If you configure PPP encapsulation, you can configure an inet family by including the family inet statement at the [edit interfaces interface-name unit logical-unit-number] hierarchy level. inet6 and MPLS families are not supported on logical interfaces if you configured PPP encapsulation.
