IGMPv2 and IGMPv3: Snooping: Proxy

More Information:

IGMPv2 and IGMPv3: Snooping: Proxy

This feature supports proxy mode for IGMPv2 and IGMPv3 snooping. In proxy mode, a Layer 2 device acts as an intermediary between downstream multicast hosts and upstream multicast routers by terminating and filtering IGMP control messages, aggregating membership reports, and suppressing redundant join and leave messages. IGMP snooping proxy reduces the number of IGMP reports sent toward upstream routers and limits IPv4 multicast traffic to ports that have requested the traffic instead of flooding it to all ports in a VLAN.
