PIM Rendezvous Point (RP)

The rendezvous point (RP) router is the root of the shared tree or rendezvous-point tree (RPT). The RP router discovers the sources for all multicast groups. To receive multicast traffic from the groups served by the RP, the device needs to know only the IP address of the RP router.
