Schedulers

More Information:

Schedulers

Schedulers define the class-of-service (CoS) properties of output queues, enabling precise control over how traffic is prioritized and transmitted during periods of congestion. You can assign each queue a minimum guaranteed bandwidth (transmit rate), a maximum bandwidth (shaping rate), a scheduling priority, a memory buffer size, and random early detection (RED) drop profiles. You associate schedulers with forwarding classes through scheduler maps, then apply those maps to interfaces to enforce queue-specific behavior per port. The goal is to ensure that high-priority traffic receives preferential treatment while lower-priority traffic shares remaining bandwidth proportionally, preventing any single traffic class from starving others.
