You can configure a maximum of 512 equal-cost multipath (ECMP) next hops for external BGP peers. (Previously, the maximum number supported was 128.) Having the ability to configure up to 512 ECMP next hops allows you to increase the number of direct BGP peer connections, thus improving latency and optimizing data flow. Optionally, you can configure those ECMP paths to use consistent load balancing (consistent hashing).
