Origin validation helps to prevent the unintentional advertisement of routes. Origin validation is a mechanism by which route advertisements can be authenticated as originating from an expected autonomous system (AS). Origin validation uses resource public key infrastructure (RPKI) to perform authentication for specified BGP prefixes. This feature introduces the validation state action in a route-validation import policy.
You can use this feature to set the validation state in the routing table based on the result of the route-validation policy call. The validation state might have one of the following values:
