When you configure OSPFv2 on an NBMA network, OSPFv2 operates by default in point-to-multipoint mode. In this mode, OSPFv2 treats the network as a set of point-to-point links. Because there is no autodiscovery mechanism, you must configure each neighbor. An NBMA interface behaves similarly to a point-to-multipoint interface but requires the election and operation of a designated router and a backup designated router. Use the following CLI commands to configure an OSPFv2 interface on an NBMA or a point-to-multipoint network:
