You can use dynamic service profiles to apply services to all subscribers in a tunnel group or to all subscribers using a particular LAC without involving RADIUS. In multivendor environments, customers might use only standard RADIUS attributes to simplify management by avoiding the use of vendor-specific attributes (VSAs) from multiple vendors. However, VSAs are generally required to apply services. Local service profile activation enables you to avoid that problem. It can also be a way to provide default services when RADIUS servers are down. You can also pass parameters to the services as they are applied, such as a downstream shaping rate for a CoS service.
