Proxy ARP/NDP with IRB (ARP/NDP Supression with IRB)

More Information:

Proxy ARP/NDP with IRB (ARP/NDP Supression with IRB)

This feature introduces proxy ARP and proxy NDP on EVPN-MPLS (MAC-VRF) with integrated routing and bridging (IRB). The use of proxy ARP and proxy NDP results in significant suppression of Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) and Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP) packets. Specifically, you use this feature to reduce the flooding of ARP and NDP messages in the EVPN network. Instead of flooding ARP or NDP through the EVPN domain, the local provider edge (PE) router with IRB replies to ARP/NDP requests with the MAC-IP information found in the EVPN database. With this feature, you ensure a more efficient use of core bandwidth. By default, proxy ARP, ARP suppression, proxy NDP, and NDP suppression are enabled.
