Next-Generation MVPN

You use NG-MVPN to transmit IP multicast traffic over a Layer 3 VPN. NG-MVPN uses BGP as the control plane and PIM sparse mode as the data plane. The PIM state information is maintained between the provider edge (PE) routers using the same architecture that is used for unicast VPNs, thereby enabling simplicity of configuration and operation.
