More Information:

N+1 DHCP server & relay subscriber redundancy for integrated BNGs

You can enhance redundancy and optimize resource usage in your network by configuring N+1 DHCP server and relay subscriber redundancy for integrated broadband network gateways (BNGs). Use the service-activation-on-failover mode to defer full-service programming until a failover occurs, supporting higher subscriber density. This mode allows the secondary PFE to use fewer resources until needed.

Utilize pseudo-wire PS interfaces across multiple chassis for access, and configure redundancy groups with the set system services subscriber-management redundancy group command.

The MPC7 and LC2103 line cards act as secondaries for up to 192K dual-stack subscribers. When pseudo-service interface activates in service-activation-on-failover mode, it supports full-service traffic handling and statistics reporting. You can configure redundancy groups with access interfaces on primary and secondary PFEs. This feature supports both DHCP relay and local server modes during failover scenarios.
