Use route-based proxy neighbor discovery to address network connectivity issues between virtual machines (VMs) on different physical networks. This approach enables the gateway to send its MAC address to the source VM, facilitating communication over routes instead of Layer 2 (L2) switching. By maintaining host routes in the routing information base (RIB), you can ensure reachability and redistribute routes into BGP or interior gateway protocols (IGPs). Note that proactive Address Resolution Detection (ARP) detection is supported, while proactive IPv6 neighbor learning is not. This method is limited to default routing tables.
