IP mobility is characterized by endpoints, such as virtual machines, containers, and physical hosts moving within a data center without changing their IP addresses. Devices in the EVPN-VXLAN network must quickly converge on updated routing information and maintain IP reachability. As endpoints move within the EVPN-VXLAN network, multiple MAC/IP advertisement route messages for the same (duplicate) IP address can exist in the control plane. If there are misconfigurations or excessive endpoint movements, devices must identify and respond to these duplicate IP addresses. Duplicate IP address detection supports IP mobility by providing the mechanism to detect and log duplicate IP addresses and it enables you to configure the device's response to the detected duplicate IP address.
To configure duplicate IP address detection options, include the duplicate-ip-detection statement at the [edit protocols evpn] hierarchy level.
